Setting up the Nest Cam is quick and easy in the Google Home app. Setting up the camera took me about five minutes. Plug it into a power outlet, open the Google Home app, and follow the in-app instructions. Drywall anchors, screws, and a base with a built-in mounting bracket are also included in the box. The Google Home app is where you can view and manage notifications, as well as toggle video recordings settings.

When people find out I test robot vacuums for a living, inevitably one question comes up: Are they really worth it? Ten years ago, I would've said absolutely not. Five years ago, when I started testing them in our labs, they were good enough to help in niche cases--with major caveats. Now? In casting an eye back over memorable science and environment stories from Japan in 2018, it is impossible to ignore the extreme weather that hit the country. In late June to July, unusually heavy rainfall caused extensive flooding in southwest parts of the country. Some 8 million people were advised to evacuate, more than 200 people died and the floods caused more than ¥1 trillion in damages. Then, later in July, Japan was baked in a debilitating heatwave. The town of Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, racked up the highest temperature on record, reaching 41.1 degrees. Across the country, by the end of the heatwave some 125 people had died and more than 57,000 were taken to hospital.

Although chatterbots or chatbots have received a lot of attention recently, its technology has been around for decades and it is evolving rapidly. A chatbot is a computer program presented as a chat interface, that can reply to messages from computer users.
